Still, one of the best ways to get ready for the garden year, is to attend the MSHS Garden Gala, an annual evening of food, conversation with gardening friends and information about the latest and greatest new plant offerings. The gala (formerly the very popular Spring at the Inn) will be held April 1 this year at the Vadnais Heights Commons in Vadnais Heights. Catering will once again be from the Lake Elmo Inn.

Tickets are still available for the gala dinner (the luncheon has sold out). The dinner gala will be hosted by Dale and Ruth Bachman. Dinner includes an expanded menu (steak, chicken or Salad Nicose with tuna) and a glass of wine, with a price of $75 for MSHS members, $85 for nonmembers. All entrees are gluten-free.

Following dinner, there will be a “new plant fashion show,” with a wide range of new shrubs, perennials and even a tree or two from Bailey’s Nurseries and Monrovia, two premier wholesale nurseries for our area. There will be more plants to giveaway than ever before, too.

Gift bags, giveaways, raffles, “99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall” and wall of wine are all part of the fun, as well as a silent auction featuring fabulous gifts for gardeners. This is a fun event for garden clubs, plant society members or gardening friends to enjoy.

The registration deadline is March 21, so hurry and make your reservation for this exciting annual event. Contact MSHS for more information and registration.
