Garden Bloggers Visit Vera's Garden
Each garden bloggers from around the United States, Canada and beyond get together for a three-day “fling” in a city. Last weekend, the bloggers visited the Twin Cities and one of their stops was Vera’s Garden, a fantastic community garden that volunteers nurture along the Midtown Greenway bike trail in Minneapolis. The garden, as one blogger said on Instagram, is a “beautiful labor of love,” for the volunteers who tend it.
The 60 bloggers learned about the garden, which is supported by Minnesota Green through plant donations. The volunteers worked extra hard all spring in order to get the garden ready for the bloggers. Below are a few photos from the visit.
Thank you to Donovan Harmel, who helped coordinate the visit and is a diligent volunteer in the garden, as well as the other gardeners who helped guide the bloggers through the garden. I think the bloggers learned a lot about the importance of community gardening in Minnesota and how community green spaces, like Vera’s Garden, make our cities more beautiful and welcoming to all.
It was a lovely place to begin our day. Thanks to all the volunteers at Vera’s Garden for sharing it with us.
It was a beautiful garden with dedicated volunteers. Where would we be without them? And I love that river birch! One of my favourite trees.
