Volunteers packing bulbs for sale at the home shows.

Volunteers have been busy at MSHS offices recently, packing bulbs and roots for plant sales and boxing books and other gear for the upcoming Twin Cities home shows. MSHS has a big presence at both shows, with a sales booth, a kids’ potting table and a garden stage featuring a variety of speakers on garden topics.

If you are a Northern Gardener level member of MSHS or above, two tickets to the Minnesota Home & Patio Show ( Feb. 19-22) and two tickets to the Minneapolis Home + Garden Show (Feb. 25 – March 1) are part of your membership package. You can pick up the tickets at our will-call booth at the shows.

So, what’s on tap at the garden stages? The Northern Gardener stage at the Home and Patio show will include a wide range of speakers, from author Heather Holm on gardening for bees and other pollinators to perennial favorite (and Northern Gardener columnist) Don Engebretson (aka, the Renegade Gardener) on creative containers. Bobby Jensen of Grow with KARE will be there every day of the show talking about “11 Tough Sites and What to Do with Them.” You can see the full list of topics and times by scrolling to the bottom of this page.

The Minneapolis Home + Garden Show includes a long list of celebrity home and garden experts. The MSHS Garden Theater, located in Room 103 outside of the main exhibit area, features talks every day of the show on topics ranging from lawns with less turf to bees, urban vegetable gardening to creating a water feature in a day, mushroom hunting to frugal gardening. Here’s a a full list of times and topics.

See you at the shows!
