Don't Miss These Great Plant Sales

plant sales1This coming weekend marks the beginning of plant sale season here in Minnesota. Plant sales sponsored by garden clubs, Master Gardener groups or local charities are great places to find inexpensive, unusual and well-cared for plants. We have a complete list of plant sales that will be held over the few weeks on the Northern Gardener website. You are sure to find one near your house.

We also have a list in Northern Gardener magazine, but due to a production error we missed four sales, which will be held this weekend. You can find great plants at the sales listed below, which will be held in Bloomington, Edina, Mahtomedi and Century College in St. Paul. Check them out!

Century College, May 1-10, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., weekdays only.

Century College greenhouses, 3300 Century Ave., White Bear Lake.

Student-grown annuals, perennials, hanging baskets, patio pots, herbs and herb gardens. Proceeds returned to the program.

 Bloomington Affiliated Garden Clubs, Thursday and Friday, May 7 and 8, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

8300 Sheridan Ave. S., Bloomington.

Annuals, perennials, vegetables, hanging baskets and more. Proceeds used to fund horticultural scholarships and community programs.

Edina Garden Council, Friday, May 8, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, May 9, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Arneson Acres Park, 4711 W. 70th St., Edina.

Annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables, hanging baskets and containers. Members present for gardening questions.

 Mahtomedi Garden Club, Friday, May 8, noon to 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 9, 9 a.m. to noon

Wedgewood Park, 211 Wedgewood Dr., Mahtomedi.

All proceeds go to community beautification projects and grants.

    Hennepin Technical College!!!! Four greenhouses overflowing with plants grown from seed or plugs by students. Annusls, perennials, herbs, 66 varieties of tomatoes, 40 varieties of peppers, awesome hanging baskets and patio containers, herbs, natives and many more. Also worm castings from the double worm bed of Red racers.
