Our 2019 Booth

Calling all plant mamas and sodfathers! We're offering brand new t-shirt designs with your name all over them (literally). Visit us in the Dirt Wing of the Ag/Hort building and stock up on gardening gloves, books, tools, and seeds, and don't miss our fun selection of socks and shirts. Society members save 15% on everything. Not a member yet? Join or renew at the fair and receive a complimentary canvas tote. Before you go, jump in Seed Savers Exchange's photo booth, grab some goofy gardening props, and have your photo printed on a seed packet to take home!

Garden to Glass Exhibit

We have a few drinks up our sleeve this year... We've partnered with Quincy Street Kitchen to bring you unique, mouthwatering cocktail, mocktail and smoothie recipes you can make at home. Look no further than your yard or container gardens for fresh, healthy ingredients. Find recipes, tips for growing your own herbs, fruits, veggies and edible flowers, and inspiration for starting your own "booze trellis" in our Garden to Glass display in the Dirt Wing of the Ag/Hort building throughout the duration of the fair.

Potted Plant Show

A long-standing fair tradition, this show features unique and unusual plants, including a wide variety of houseplants, hanging baskets, vines, dish gardens, herb containers, and terrariums. We welcome exhibitors of all ages - sign up today! Plant societies and garden centers are welcome to create a special display. For more information, download the MSHS Plant Show Schedule 2019.

Gardens at the Fair

Don't miss our Adopt-a-Garden beds outside the Ag/Hort building. Home to a pond, apple trees, water lilies, honeyberries, and more, these beds have been planted and maintained to peak in late summer. Snap a photo inside a gazebo covered in clematis and succulent roof panels, pick a fresh honeyberry to try, enjoy the sweet smell of Stargazer lilies, and don't miss the parsley plants nestled among annual flowers in the bed closest to the Haunted House. Many thanks to the many volunteers who have given plants and time to make these gardens so beautiful.

Volunteer

Join hundreds of area gardeners of all skill levels who support MN Hort and help us man booths and table at events around the Twin Cities metro area. As a small nonprofit, we depend on your generosity. Whether you like answering gardening questions, selling memberships and subscriptions, talking about the importance of our community programs, folding t-shirts, or any number of other tasks, we'd love your help! When you help staff our booth at the Minnesota State Fair, you enjoy free admission. Plus, sign up for three or more fair shifts and get a free t-shirt! Learn more

How to find us

Our educational display and retail booth are located in "The Dirt" wing of the Agriculture/Horticulture building, across the street from the haunted house. This wing is also home to the educational stage. Rest your feet and catch a gardening lecture, wander through our "Garden to Glass" exhibit and find refreshing drink recipes, stock up on gardening books and tools, browse seeds, t-shirts and socks, and get a free canvas tote when you join or renew your membership!
