SUMMARY:Garden Club of Minneapolis  hosts a Tour of the Normandale Japanese Garden
DESCRIPTION:Join the Garden Club of Minneapolis for an enjoyable tour of the Normandale Japanese Garden with Cece Cope\, Japanese Garden Lead Volunteer.  This Japanese strolling garden  is over-flowing with Japanese garden elements:  a gated entrance\, multiple bridges\, stone lanterns\, shelters\, symbolic islands\, rocks\, streams and waterfalls. Plant materials\, though mostly not those used in Japan due to climate differences\, reflect the reserved use of flowering plants that is traditional in Japan. Variations in tones and textures of green predominate and woody plant materials are trimmed or pruned to specific aesthetic goals. \nThere are two tours\, both are free and open to the public. Please park in the west lot and meet at the front entrance of the garden for the first tour at 3:30 pm. DESCRIPTION:The Garden Club of Minneapolis extends an invitation to all interested people to participate in its annual Flower\, Food & Foto Show\, a free and open-to-the-public competition celebrating horticultural and photographic achievements. Compete for gift card prizes while showcasing your best flowers\, vegetables\, floral designs\, and photographs. Whether you are a beginning gardener or an advanced enthusiast\, we welcome you to enter your best flowers\, vegetables\, floral designs\, or photos. You do not need to be a Club member to take part in the competition. \nThis year’s featured flower is marigold\, the featured vegetable is summer squash\, and the floral design theme is “Art\, Color\, & Flowers.” Show entries will be accepted on Saturday\, August 15th\, from 7:30 to 10:15 am\, with judging to follow from 10:45 am to 1:00 pm.
