Create Green Spaces
Through our signature community outreach programs, we share plants, seeds, tools and education with gardeners growing their own food and beautifying their neighborhoods across the state of Minnesota.
Gardening is for everyone. Whether you're a green-thumbed pro or just starting out, we help our members, program participants and anyone who loves gardening learn how to grow plants in our challenging northern climate and positively impact the environment.
Our hallmark program provides raised garden beds, soil, compost, vegetables, annual plants, seeds and gardening education for organizations serving children and families throughout Minnesota.
We coordinate donations of plants, seeds and gardening tools from growers, garden centers and seed companies and redistribute them to community and public gardens. Grown and maintained by community members, these gardens beautify neighborhoods, provide space to grow healthy food and serve as public places where community members can gather and grow together.
The only magazine exclusively about gardening in USDA Hardiness Zones 3, 4 and 5, Northern Gardener is written for and by people who garden here. Each issue is filled with timely columns and feature articles covering all areas of gardening for all skill levels. This award-winning publication, which includes a digital edition, is one of the many benefits of being a member.
We offer a wide variety of educational opportunities for members (who receive free or discounted access) and anyone else who wants to learn about gardening and plants. Join us for one of our many webinars and hands-on workshops!
